About Magellan Plumbing

Magellan Plumbing founder John Whitney began his career in the plumbing industry in 2014 working on new construction projects in Greenville, SC, and moved on to a plumbing apprenticeship in Knoxville, TN in 2015. During this apprenticeship, he gained experience in warehousing and inventory management, plumbing diagnostics, service and repair, and remodels. Along with these skills he also received multiple plumbing certifications and completed a trade school course. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, John went on to become the number one technician in his company. 

After working as a technician for a few years, he was promoted to plumbing service manager. During his time as a service manager, he took on the management of three additional divisions as the company grew. After a few years as a successful service manager, he was promoted to general manager overseeing the company field operations, coaching and training the service managers and working in research and development.

In 2022 John and his family moved to North Carolina, opening a plumbing company of their own. Because of John’s experience as a plumbing technician and service manager, he understands the importance of doing the job the right way the first time, limiting callbacks that can cost a client valuable time and frustration.
